Game On: IDF Ground Forces Enter Gaza

Posted by Skye |

Israel Defense Forces spokesman Capt. Benjamin Rutland announces the entrance of IDF forces into Gaza with the objective of dealing a heavy blow to Hamas' terrorist infrastructure and rocket-launching capability.

Michael Totten discusses the idea of proportional response in armed conflict. A must read for those interesting in a balanced view of this conflict.

This Ain't Hell has an official announcement, since the quisling elect doesn't have one.

In his weekly radio address, President Bush, lays the blame of this conflict on the aggressors, and illustrates the work that has been done by Israel, the US and the UN to bring peace.

Now that Israel has got the ball rolling, they better keep it up till the job is done. If they don't, they are gonna get rolled - again.

David Horowitz - Never Again:

Jonn over at This Ain't Hell makes a salient point of the hypocrisy of the left and their anti-war dogma. Four Americans were killed in this new front in the war on terror:

Rabbi Gavriel N. Holtzberg
Rivka Holtzber

Alan Scherr
Naomi Sherr

Jonn nails it with these observations:

Four peaceful people murdered purely for the shock value - no military goals, no tactical advantage. Just mass murder - and the 200 known dead weren’t enough. The only terrorist captured alive claims they were going for 5,000 dead

Does anyone think that ANSWER or World Can’t Wait or Not In Our Name are going to protest the people who sent the ten chimps out to kill innocent people? Not on your life. A few days ago, I got to listen to the same types defending Bill Ayers’ domestic terrorist activities as a logical result of American foreign policy. They damn sure aren’t going to condemn foreign terrorists.
Locally, will the Sheepdogs be treated to ghoulish displays in memory of these victims of islamic terrorists by the Chester County Prison Movement. Somehow, I think not. Will the CCPM protest against who organized this butchery? Will they protest against America? You betcha.

No War With Georgia

Posted by Skye |

Seems the CCPM missed the opportunty to stop this war:

DZHAVA, Georgia — Russia dispatched an armored column into the breakaway enclave of South Ossetia on Friday after Georgia, a staunch U.S. ally, launched a surprise offensive to crush separatists. Witnesses said hundreds of civilians were killed.

Fighting reportedly raged well into the night with Georgia's interior ministry saying early Saturday that warplanes attacked three Georgian military bases and key facilities for shipping oil to the West.

Hmmm, what are the chances the peacers will be carrying 'Stop the Georgian War' signs?

IBD's Revolution Redux

George W's War:

No one likes war. War is a horrific affair, bloody and expensive. Sending our men and women into battle to perhaps die or be maimed is an unconscionable thought.

Yet some wars need to be waged, and someone needs to lead. The citizenry and Congress are often ambivalent or largely opposed to any given war. It's up to our leader to convince them. That's why we call the leader "Commander in Chief."

The similarities between the War on Terror and our own Revolution are astounding. Read the rest HERE.

Wrong Way Peace Movement

Posted by Skye |

What is the “peace movement” doing wrong? My fellow contributor at Flopping Aces took the time to compile a list of shortcomes of the peace movement. His article nails the real agenda of the peace folk as a partisan political tool. I see this in action every weekend in West Chester.
  • It failed to prevent the war in Afghanistan.
  • It failed to prevent the war in Iraq.
  • It failed to change power in the executive branch.
  • It failed to end the war in Iraq.
  • It was duped by Democrats in 2006 who promised “A New Direction In Iraq” without ever having even formed a committee to brainstorm ideas until 2 months after being elected.
  • It failed to prevent The Surge offensive.
  • It failed to stop cannibals in the Congo [and was silent while 4-6million died as UN peacekeepers raped and sold children en masse].
  • It failed to stop the bloodshed in Darfur.
  • It speaks out against the efforts (war) of US forces to protect people from terror.
  • It speaks the same rhetoric as the enemy’s propaganda.
  • It is silent in response to terrorist attacks.
  • It is openly embraced by Islamic holy warriors.

I don’t know, but the fact remains that the Peace Movement seems more a partisan political tool and a carnival than a substantive and meaningful call for action. Perhaps someday it will succeed in bringing peace to a war torn nation rather than support those tearing it apart? Perhaps it would be more successful if it marched and took action against the terrorists?

One other note: Jules Crittenden weighs in on the importance of Iraq in the global war on terror:

Iraq has become the central battlefield in the 21st century's Islamic war, and may have been destined to be, with or without us. Lying geographically, ideologically, and culturally athwart the Middle East, rich in resources and boiling with rage long before we got there, it is the place where the war will either be settled or truly begun. It is a fitting role for the cradle of civilization to host a war in which the very progress of civilization is being challenged.

And now for some South Park wisdom:

Somehow I don't see the peace protesters agreeing with South Park.... Pity

We are winning, I am happy and peace-protestors worldwide are cryin'.

WSJ Reports:

America is very close to succeeding in Iraq. The "near-strategic defeat" of al Qaeda in Iraq described by CIA Director Michael Hayden last month in the Washington Post has been followed by the victory of the Iraqi government's security forces over illegal Shiite militias, including Iranian-backed Special Groups. The enemies of Iraq and America now cling desperately to their last bastions, while the political process builds momentum.

In The SandBox

I'd like to introduce my friend, Gunnery Sergeant Jonathan Jenkins. A Chester County resident who has recently arrived in Iraq for a seven month tour.

Jonathan is documenting his experience in the Sandbox at his blog : The Conservative Bog . Go ahead and leave him a note or two of encouragement!

Oh, and if you can, Jonathan is looking for a good pair of wool socks - Wool may soon be my best friend. Wool socks in the desert...go figure.

While you are sending good wishes to our troops - send some to a fellow blogger in the SandBox: LT Nixon Rants. Unlike Jonathan Jenkins, Lt. Nixon has not been fortunate enough to meet me in real life. However, I've determined him to be quite likable and he is heterosexual. So go ahead and send your notes of support to him!

al-Reuters Reports

Unless you are a released inmate from Gitmo...

DUBAI, May 1 (Reuters) - A Kuwaiti man released from the U.S. prison in Guantanamo Bay in 2005 has carried out a suicide bombing in Iraq, his cousin told Al Arabiya television on Thursday.A friend of Abdullah Saleh al-Ajmi in Iraq informed his family that Abdullah carried out the attack in Mosul, his cousin Salem told the Dubai-based television channel.

Shamelessly borrowed from Lt. Nixon:

In a shrewd analysis of Obama's peculiarly petty objections to the Rev. Wright, Scott Johnson of the Powerline Web site remarked on the senator's "adolescent grandiosity." There's always been a whiff of that. When he tells his doting fans, "We are the change we've been waiting for," he means, of course, he is the change we've been waiting for.

Hmm, all this time I believed only winter soldiers willfully misused the word 'we' in their statements.

IVAW - Iraq Veterans Against War plan on revisiting past shame by taking a page from the 1971 VVAW Winter Soldier Investigation (WSI). The IVAW is holding its own Winter Soldier Investigation this month at the National Labor College in Silver Spring, MD.

The unverified allegations by the original Winter Soldier Investigation were made famous by John Kerry's congressional testimony where he characterized American soldiers as "razing villages in fashion reminiscent of Genghis Khan". Unproven statements from the membership of the VVAW and John Kerry managed to smear the reputation of an entire generation of honorable soldiers. Decades later, Vietnam Veterans are still reeling from the egregious mis-characterization perpetrated by the VVAW.

The Iraq veterans Against War (Formed under Veterans For Peace) are attempting to do the same to this generation of men and women serving in our military. Select IVAW members are scheduled to make statements, and will do so without swearing an oath or signing legally binding depositions, affidavits or official reports. In essence, the IVAW are denying these individuals the basic right of American citizens to due process.

Not these troops - Not this war - Not this time.

Eagles Up along with MAF, R/T and Gathering of Eagles is spearheading a campaign to counter the forthcoming IVAW Winter Soldier Investigation. This video is a compilation of GOE supporters from across the nation speaking out against this upcoming travesty of truth. This new generation of winter soldier's will NOT have the opportunity to smear our troops with impunity. They will be held accountable for their statements.

When faced with a member of IVAW, VVAW or VFP, just gently stop their rant and give them a copy of a
SF-180, and let their record speak for them.

Saddam/Liberals Lied ~ People Died

Found this gem over at Flopping Aces:

Details from the interview:

"He told me he initially miscalculated... President Bush’s intentions. He thought the United States would retaliate with the same type of attack as we did in 1998...a four-day aerial attack," says Piro. "He survived that one and he was willing to accept that type of attack." "He didn't believe the U.S. would invade?" asks Pelley, "No, not initially," answers Piro.

He also intended and had the wherewithal to restart the weapons program. "Saddam] still had the engineers. The folks that he needed to reconstitute his program are still there," says Piro. "He wanted to pursue all of WMD…to reconstitute his entire WMD program." This included chemical, biological and nuclear weapons, Piro says.

Conventional Wisdom of WMD - By S.Hussein

Saddam’s nuclear documents compel any reasonable person to the conclusion that, more probably than not, there were in fact nuclear WMD sites, components, and programs hidden inside Iraq at the time the Coalition forces invaded.

WEST NORRITON, PA – JANUARY 10, 2008 – A Hero’s Welcome, an organization ensuring that all our Service Members get the proper welcome home from the war, will honor the service of Specialist Jessica Hartranft, US Army this Saturday, January 12, 2008 at 3PM at Spunktown Tavern in Boyertown, PA.

Our hero returned home to the Philadelphia area from Iraq on January 3, 2008 after 15 months of service. Jessica was greeted at the Philadelphia International Airport by her family, including her brother, John, an Iraqi War Vet, and her grandmother, a Women’s Army Corps World War II Vet; several Vietnam Veterans and volunteers from A Hero’s Welcome.

Jessica served in Taji, Iraq for the US Army with the 512th Maintenance Company and provided security details at outposts and checkpoints since her arrival in country. On several occasions, Jessica assumed the gunner’s role and manned a 50 caliber machine gun to provide cover for her unit, traditionally a male-only role. As Jessica’s mom, Karen McNear, told us, “Jessica is truly a tribute to the women who serve in combat” and we expect to honor her as such! Jessica asked that any local Veterans join us as she hopes to swap war stories and compare experiences. All Veterans and their families are welcome to join us, as well as any well-wishers and Patriots.

Jessica joined the Army after completing her 11th grade year in high school. She attended Pottsgrove before graduating from Boyertown High School in 2005. Jessica will be home for 30 days leave before returning to her duty station in Germany. She expects to begin Airborne School in Fort Benning, Georgia, within the next six (6) months.

Islam- the religion of pieces strikes again..
My opinion of her return to Pakistan has always been mixed. Mark Steyn and I seem to be in agreement about the late Benazir Bhutto:

Mark Steyn 12/27/2007

Benazir Bhutto's return to Pakistan had a mad recklessness about it which give today's events a horrible inevitability. As I always say when I'm asked about her, she was my next-door neighbor for a while - which affects a kind of intimacy, though in fact I knew her only for sidewalk pleasantries. She was beautiful and charming and sophisticated and smart and modern, and everything we in the west would like a Muslim leader to be - though in practice, as Pakistan's Prime Minister, she was just another grubby wardheeler from one of the world's most corrupt political classes.

Sadly, we can add Bhutto's name to an every growing list of victims of fundamental Islam:

West Chester vigil - Saturday, December 8, 2007

Iraq veteran and VFP Chapter 31 member John Bruhns ventured out to the circus of dueling vigils in downtown West Chester last Saturday and, then, wrote the article below that ran on The Huffington Post, where John regularly publishes his commentaries. For anyone interested, VFP Chapter 31 members will be at the vigil by the West Chester courthouse next Saturday and on all Saturdays for the foreseeable future. Last Saturday, the non-combat Marine vet holding the Israeli flag in the attached photo called combat vet John Bruhns a "traitor" and, as we were rolling up our END THE WAR banner, said, "Don't come back next week." He made it certain we will be back, proud to be red-blooded American veterans peacefully calling on our government to end its the illegal military occupation of Iraq.

I look forward to it!

If Not You, Then Who?

Today I received an email from the organization Vets for Freedom detailing their grass root effort called '10 Weeks to Testimony'

Veterans from across the country will gather in DC this Tuesday, July 17th, in order to meet with a number of senators to discuss the importance of their support of the Iraq war strategy - better known as The Surge.

They are asking for the senators to consider these three commonsense approaches to victory in the War on Terror.

  1. General Petraeus deserves enough time to implement a winning counter-insurgency strategy in Iraq.
  2. Retreat means a failed state in Iraq and a safe haven for Al Qaeda to plan future attacks against America and her allies.
  3. Decisions about Iraq should be made by military commanders and generals on the ground-not politicians in Washington, DC.

This is a noble effort made by those who put everything on the line to protect our precious freedom. Ironically, they now have returned home from duty only to find their fight is not yet over. The only thing that's becoming clearer by the day is that America's main opponent in Iraq is really in Washington DC.

Those of us who support Winning in Iraq can reinforce this message by taking a few minutes out of your day tomorrow to contact your home state Senators to express your support of the Surge and the Vets on the Hill.
