Mine That Bird, paired with jockey, Calvin Borell, pulled out of the pack in the last leg of the race, outpacing the competition and finishing with a stunning victory at the 2009 Kentucky Derby. Equine competitors in this race came as far as Saudi Arabia, transported by jet to Kentucky. The winning horse was personally driven from New Mexico by his owner, Bennie Woolley, who recently suffered a crushing injury to his ankle.
