Reality in the Age of Obama via the Washington Post:

Justice Department political appointees overruled career lawyers and ended a civil complaint accusing three members of the New Black Panther Party for Self-Defense of wielding a nightstick and intimidating voters at a Philadelphia polling place last Election Day, according to documents and interviews.

The incident - which gained national attention when it was captured on videotape and distributed on YouTube - had prompted the government to sue the men, saying they violated the 1965 Voting Rights Act by scaring would-be voters with the weapon, racial slurs and military-style uniforms.

Career lawyers pursued the case for months, including obtaining an affidavit from a prominent 1960s civil rights activist who witnessed the confrontation and described it as "the most blatant form of voter intimidation" that he had seen, even during the voting rights crisis in Mississippi a half-century ago.

Eric Holder labeled America as a nation of cowards - I assume he included his own DOJ in that sweeping assessment.

Speaking of cowardice - La Raza member and Supreme Court nominee, Sonia Sotomayor, apparently is backtracking on her previous statement "I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experience would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn't lived that life."

Pett Secretary Gibbs assumes that would she would do just that:

Obama's top spokesman, Robert Gibbs, told reporters about Sotomayor: "I think she'd say that her word choice in 2001 was poor." Gibbs, however, said he did not hear that from Sotomayor directly. He said he learned it from people who had talked to her, and he did not identify who those people were.
I am so disappointed in her! Sonia had no problem speaking those words in 2001, she should proudly stand by them in 2009 AO. She should never hide the fact that her career is a vehicle to put her race and gender above what is required to perform her job adequately. There is no shame in singling out a specific race and sex for promotion above others, right? I strongly urge her to stay true to her convictions and shout them to the world. Let your La Raza flag fly, Sonia!
