HARRISBURG – Republican Party of Pennsylvania Chairman Robert A. Gleason, Jr. is appalled that groups like the Obama-backed ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform NOW) submitted thousands of bad Democrat voter registration forms to county boards of elections.
“ACORN describes itself as a non-profit, non-partisan social justice organization,” Gleason said. “However, their non-partisan group has been picketing at McCain headquarters all across the state and at our Philadelphia Victory 2008 Campaign Office, one member of their organization even went as far to say, ‘Hi, we’re ACORN, and we are gonna beat McCain down.’ I think many Pennsylvanians’ are probably asking themselves; is the type of work that non-partisan community organizers are up to?”
“Between March 23rd and October 1st, various groups, including ACORN, submitted over 252,595 registrations to the Philadelphia County Election Board, who rejected 57,435 for faulty information. Most of these registrations were submitted by ACORN, and were rejected due to fake social security numbers, incorrect dates of birth, clearly fraudulent signatures, addresses that do not exist, and duplicate registrations. In one case, a man was registered to vote more than 15 times since the Primary election. It is important to remember that investigating the great number of fraudulent registrations is going to end up costing the taxpayers tens of thousands of dollars this year alone. Counties are wasting postage, materials and valuable manpower sorting through these bad registration forms.”
I'd like to catch some of the ACORN protesters at the Philly Victory Center. Would make for some great video. I wonder how many of these phony voter registrations were submitted by the director of the Chester County Peace Movement?
