Agents with the state attorney general’s and secretary of state’s offices served a search warrant this morning on the new ACORN headquarters. The Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now office is located at 953 E. Sahara Ave.
The warrant was part of an ongoing investigation into suspected voter registration fraud. Employees are suspected of using false addresses or false names, including those of former Dallas Cowboys, according to the secretary of state’s office.
Recall that Obama has had a close relationship with ACORN from his days as a community organizer.
How does ACORN figure into the presidential politics of today? Consider this: Democrats attempted to slip into the bailout bill an earmark that would provide a handsome sum of our tax dollars to fund ACORN.
What is ACORN? The Acronym stands for "Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now"
ACORN recognized very early the opportunity presented by the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) of 1977. ACORN proudly touted "affirmative action" lending and pressured banks to make subprime loans. Madeline Talbott, a Chicago ACORN leader, boasted of "dragging banks kicking and screaming" into dubious loans. And, as Sol Stern reported in City Journal, ACORN also found a remunerative niche as an "advisor" to banks seeking regulatory approval. "Thus we have J.P. Morgan & Co., the legatee of the man who once symbolized for many all that was supposedly evil about American capitalism, suddenly donating hundreds of thousands of dollars to ACORN." Is this a great country or what? As conservative community activist Robert Woodson put it, "The same corporations that pay ransom to Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton pay ransom to ACORN."
What has this got to do with Obama?
Obama represented Calvin Roberson in a 1994 lawsuit against Citibank, charging the bank systematically denied mortgages to African-American applicants and others from minority neighborhoods.
Flashforward to 2008: Obama claims ownership of an 800 billion dollar tax payer funded mortgage bailout bill that almost included diverting funds into the hands of ACORN.
Banks pressured by ACORN activists to approve sub prime loans to dubious clients, culminating with an 800 billion dollar bailout bill in 2008....to quote Rev Wright..."The chickens have come home to roost"
